Our Story

Daventry Food Bank was started by Vineyard Community Church in February of 2010 with a view to provide emergency/essential food supplies to anyone experiencing hardship in Daventry until other parts of the social care infrastructure come in to play.

Since we started, we have been called on to assist thousands of families and individuals in and around Daventry who have found themselves in a place where they simply have nothing to feed themselves or their children.

All it takes is a sudden, unexpected event - a bereavement, illness, redundancy or theft - to throw people into a genuine crisis.

Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, it was reported that 1 in 5 people live below the poverty line here in the UK. That  number can only have increased since. That means that more than 20% of the UK's population are needing to choose between food or gas/electricity!
